Atrion Communications hires their first NPower IT Apprentice
BRANCHBURG, NJ – September 6, 2018 – Atrion Communication Resources (ATRION) has announced the hiring of their first NPower IT Generalist Apprentice, Jennifer Quinones, an Army veteran, as one of their Cyber Security Specialists.
Atrion Communication Resources (Atrion) is a leading provider of information technology products and services. Their mission is to ensure a secure world where their clients can operate with peace of mind, knowing their data is protected with a cohesive strategy, and the industry’s most innovative technology.
Offering a full range of IT services from Consulting, Assessments and Professional Services, Training, and Product Sales, their objective is to build protected and sustainable environments based on industry Best Practices.
Atrion was founded in 1985 by Pat Grillo, a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps, and operates as a Veteran-Owned Small Business and currently employs four vets out of his 23 staff members.
“As a veteran who often was not treated well upon my return from Vietnam, I have made a sincere commitment to advocate for our active service personnel and veterans who sacrifice so much for our freedom. It’s often difficult for veterans to transition to civilian life and we need to do more to enable them to have successful post-military careers. When I learned about NPower and their mission of providing free IT training and life skills services for military veterans and then saw the passion from Bea Tassot and everyone at NPower in New Jersey, I was really moved to support their efforts as much as possible.” – Pat Grillo
Quinones graduated from the NPower program last July after enlisting in the Army at 17 and becoming a single Mom. She was hired as an IT Generalist Apprentice following a 7-week internship at Atrion. She now has the opportunity to add the prestigious Apprenticeship USA certification to her resume.
NPower provides a holistic approach to its IT training, including soft skills, corporate mentoring, career counseling, lifelong alumni support, guest lectures and site visits. The apprenticeship is offered after completing and graduating from the NPower program with on-the-job work experience and ongoing support through NPower’s Online Training Management System.
The NPower NJ program, taking place in Jersey City, offers qualified students free tuition for its signature Tech Fundamentals program, which includes 15 weeks of half-day in-class instruction followed by a seven week paid internship.
“We are thrilled and honored to count Atrion among our partners and delighted to see Jennifer now being part of their team,” – Béa Tassot, NPower NJ Executive Director and National Liaison for Military Strategy and Programs.
